The smart money says there ain’t no cure for the summertime blues.
Or any other kind of blues.

Once you’ve got it, you’ve got it. It may, at times, lie dormant, but it’s always in your system.
There’s no cure.
There’s only palliative care.
The remedy for the My Baby Left Me Blues, is the Got a New Baby Boogie. The remedy for the Double-Cross Blues is the Payback Bounce.
But the payback has to be just right. Not too much, not too little. Like Goldilocks. They have to know who and they have to know why. It has to be personal, it has to be proportional, and it has to be painful.
It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that sting.

There's one sure cure for the blues...but it's murder.

Crown’s prose shines like a well-sharpened  knife and is as dazzling as it is cutting,

Trade Winds may follow a standard noir-style detective story plot  but Crown’s lyrical writing and development of Jack in the unlikely  role of detective makes for a memorable novel.
